A knot on the forehead, a bruise, and tears

We went to town today expecting to get school shoes and gym shoes for Ethan, go to lunch, Hobby Lobby, then home again. That is a lot to do with three kids in tow, and in good moods.

We started off at MC Sports to look for shoes. The big, muscular high school kid who has probably taken too many steroids, lumbers over and in his gruff voice asked what size we need. After what seemed like hours, he finally stumbles out with only one of the shoes we wanted because, "the other ones we don't have." Imagine all of this in a high school, too much steroid usage, muscular kid voice...

I am trying to help Ethan get his sweaty feet into these Nikes while Jadyn is trying to wrangle the wild little horsie that we will call, Addison.

Honestly, we tried for about two minutes to get these shoes on. Ethan's feet got hot, we didn't have socks, nor did steroid boy offer any, and I am flustered because the big dude is looking over my shoulder wondering aloud if, "are his feet too wide?"

You know, his questions don't sound so annoying now, but in the midst of it all, I could have smacked him.

Finally, the big brute walked away realizing he wasn't helping, and my attention turned back to my girls struggling off to the side, and Ethan's sweaty feet. After some serious tugging and pulling, the blessed Nikes fit perfectly. Here is where the tears show up...BY ALL THREE KIDS!

Ethan is wearing his shoes, but is flat out refusing to walk in them even 5 feet to see if they fit OK, and crying. Jadyn is still holding the wild horsie when Addison pulls her head back and slams it forward and hits Jadyn on the corner of her left eye, on the bone, with her forehead! Now I have all three kids crying.

Rather than fight it, I left with no shoes, but I now had Addison with the knot on the head, Jadyn with a bruise and swelling above her left eye, and Ethan simply crying because he didn't want to walk in his new shoes.

Ever been there?

Oh Kim, I was laughing so hard about steroid boy!!! Everytime I go to get shoes for one of the kids at MC Sports or anywhere it always seems like they stick the High School kid with no clue over in the shoes!!! I have also just dropped everything and left shopping trips on several occasions, sometimes it just isn't worth it! Hopefully their bruises bumps and tears are all healed up.

Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end, we'd sing & dance forever & a day, we'd live the life we'd choose and fight and never lose, for we were young and sure to have our way! la.la.lalalala.lalalalalala........and so the song goes by Mary Hopkins from the 60's! Listen to that for inspiration!
I had many days like that, but it passes so quickly and b-4 you know it you'll be holding all of your grandchildren and they'll be telling you how big your butt is and laugh!
Don't sweat the small stuff!

oh Kim! I TOTALLY understand! Why isn't parenting multiple children an olympic sport?

Kim!
First of all-- I miss you! I know that you are busy but we need to do Saturday breakfast soon.
On your post-just the other day the kids and I were at the grocery store and all was well until Zoe got her sucker stuck in her hair and thought it was the end of the world. Beck decided to throw a fit because he was hot and tired of walking--so while I'm in the check out line Beck is hanging on my leg whining and Zoe is screaming because she thinks her sucker is still stuck in her hair. I wanted to scream but once we got in the car--all was good. Like I've always said--parenting is the best job and hardest job in the world!!

Oh Yes sister, I've been there. I agree with Stacy...It's like an olympic sport to take all of your children shopping. It's like you have to mentally train yourself to prepare. It can be so overwelming some days. I felt like that this morning actually.

In fact I just went shopping for gym shoes this morning. But thankfully took just 1 child, I knew I would never make it with all 4. Someone was working in the office, and kept the other 3....praise God. :O)

I know EXACTLY who the guy is at MC sports because I was there quite a bit last week getting stuff for my walk!!! I had to laugh when you described him! Yes, we've all been there sister - but I have to agree with your mom, I keep reminding myself I'm going to miss this some day so I try to laugh it off....even if everyone around me in the store looks annoyed!!! HA!!

I've been there, but with only two kids. Errands are much more difficult with kids. Even if they are cooperative, just the in and out of the car is time consuming. I hope you find some shoes!

Ohhh have I had many of those moments. (By the way I love your Mom's memories of a 60's song! How old is she anyway?) Just the other night I attempted to do college shopping with a steroid laced, pain killer induced, swollen-mouth-can't-talk-cuz-I-got-my-wisdom-teeth-cut-out-and-the-jerks-kept'em, 19 year old about to move to college (in one week)! College shopping in less than one hour! WOW! Thank goodness his sweetheart came along to ease the pain! :)
