Let's lighten the mood today...
A few weeks ago, my children and hubbie asked me to make more salsa. For some reason, they love my homemade salsa rather than store bought. So I decided to can pints of it, and keep it for the next while.
I received this recipe from my friend Jamie's mom. I believe it is a family recipe so I will not give it out unless she gives me permission. But, let me tell you that the only way to make this is to make sure you add fresh cilantro. I think that is what my kids love the most. It is just so good!
I usually freeze applesauce, blueberries, and strawberries. I have canned green beans, and applesauce in the past but that is about it.
I am not too terribly domestic, but I have my moments.
So what do you can?
(OK, Heather, time to show us all up!)

That looks YUMMY. If you have too much and need to get rid of some, let me know :)
Mmmmmmm....looks good Kim. I've never tried canning it before. Great idea...I just don't know how to do it!! I am a bit clueless in that department!
That is alot of cans of salsa, but Jeff and I could definitly go through that pretty fast too. I stell make that same recipe too. We usually always have a container of it in the fridge.
That looks so good! By the way, thanks for the jar of salsa that you left at my house after it didn't seal! I'll gladly have it! Maybe someone will invite you to use their kitchen next yr. while you're canning salsa and they can have the jars that don't seal!? lucky me!
Don't you love how I copy your songs off your blog??? You should be a dj. :)
O.K. You can just as much as I do. Ms. Domestic.
I can:
applesauce
corn
blueberries (well put them in the freezer)
grape juice
Strawberry jelly
pears
Salsa
Do you want to learn to can grape juice Kim?
Maybe we should show the blissfully happy housewife how to can??? :)
Uh, YA!!!!! I'd love to learn how to can a few things. Again, a bit clueless in that area!!!!
Don't forget me! I am clueless too! If you have a canning class sign me up! I will gladly drive 3 hours to learn!
