Friday afternoon, Amber, Katy, and I traveled to Chicago for a girls weekend! I had a few purchases I had to make at Ikea, which is an all day experience in itself, so we didn't make very many stops, but definitely the necessary ones! ;)
So Friday we left and decided that we wanted to wait to eat a late dinner in Chicago. Amber had reserved a room for us, so we punched in the address and made it there safe and sound. Once we took our bags to our room, it was time to eat! I love having a GPS! We looked under restaurants and found a few options that sounded appealing. The three of us thought that Joe's Crab Shack sounded good, considering we don't have one where we live. So off we went, following Lola's instructions. (Lola is what I call the GPS.) We were nearing several restaurants and in the middle of the intersection, when Lola says, "You have reached your destination!" Amber and I freaked out! There was no shack or Joe around! That was our first warning that Lola cannot always be trusted. So rather than driving around looking for a place to eat, Lo and behold Olive Garden was right in front of us. And frankly, those breadsticks were calling our names!
After dinner, we thought it would be a good idea to find our way to IKEA, so we could make it there quickly in the morning. We had some serious shopping to do! So we found IKEA under the Points of Interests on the GPS, and foolishly trusted Lola again to get us to where we were headed. The address that came up was a little different than what Amber and I remembered, but we gave Lola the benefit of the doubt, and followed her. As we were driving along several dark, and very large factories, Lola again proclaims, "You have reached your destination!" WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lola was done. We shut her off and found IKEA ourselves which was about 7 miles away. Oh Lola.
Saturday morning was great, because all three of us mommies/sisters got to sleep all night and sleep in! Oh we love our hubbies for this short getaway! After all three of us got ready, we headed out to a late breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We thought we would make Dad proud! Every time we would travel, Cracker Barrel was like a big family joke. He pointed it out every time he would see one, and then we ate at them the whole way down to Florida! Anyway... IKEA. Lots of fun and laughs between the three of us.
After IKEA, we were famished. Again, we drove around looking for a yummy place to eat and found B.D.'s Mongolian Grill. Or something like that. Basically you pick out your meat, veggies, and spices/sauces, then wait for them to be cooked. YUM-o!!!!!!
After lupper (lunch/supper), and three diet cokes later, we made our way to BASS PRO SHOP! I know. We couldn't believe it either, but Matt and Roger's birthdays are soon, so we thought we had a great reason to go there. And actually, we had a great time and found some good deals. I got a really nice Colombia spring jacket on clearance, and I got the kiddos some nice shirts on clearance. I love a good deal!
Oh yeah, and Amber wanted to stand by the truck that we couldn't find. Can you see it! :)
Here are a few goodies I picked up at IKEA.
And one more thing, Ethan lost his third tooth, but it was his top tooth, which is major!

Sounds like so much fun! What a fun group of ladies :)
was the tooth fairy able to find ethan's tooth? I hope so. I am sure he still got the money. :)
you didn't mention that not only did Lola want us to die and made us drive to all the dark, abandoned, HUGE warehouses... but she lead us towards our demise on the shadiest of shady, ghost-town industrial roads to get there! Man, did she have it in for us. Stupid Lola. Good times, good times!
What a fun weekend!
And I am so glad you fired Lola....she is not to be trusted!!!:)
BD's Mongolian BBQ is one of our favorite places. There's one in Kalamazoo.
There I wrote something. I am not just a blog stalker anymore.
Thanks John, I knew I would get you to comment sooner or later! :)
It sounds like you had a great time.....and I didn't even call you to check up on you!
I don't appreciate when the GPS takes me to the wrong address....maybe Lola doesn't like her name!
Congratulations on the missing tooth Ethan! That's going to make him look so much older with 'big' front teeth!
very fun times in Chicago!! Thanks for inviting me to go with you guys! Too bad we didn't get to eat at Joe's..:)
Wow, What a fun overnight trip. I love Ikea so much. I love that little tea set and table and chairs. I bet your girls do too. Glad you had a good time.
Trusting someone with a name like Lola is your first mistake! :) Your Dad must be related to me ... I love Crapper Barrel all the way to FL! (that's what my kids call it)
Love the new look Ethan! Can't wait to see it in person.
BTW ... how did you get that cool "signature"? I want one too!
