Thanks Melissa for this idea!
I don't write about my hubby too often. I think he would like me to sometimes, I just don't. Sorry sweetie!
As I was reading The Inspired Room this morning, I thought this is the perfect post to write about the man in my life.

Date nights are great! We love them! But the reality is...
---
1. Dates cost money - restaurant, movie, babysitter, etc...
2. Time, time, time
3. Kids activities keep us busy
4. $
---
We do have one weekly date, though. And it doesn't cost anything! Roger and I LOVE Survivor! Every week we DVR the new episode, and then after we get the kiddos in bed, we watch it together, snuggled up in a blanket, having time to talk, and laugh at the shenanigans on the show!
---
I love it! I even get him to watch part of Grey's Anatomy with me too! He doesn't last the whole time, but close.
---
Why we love the show...
---
Roger and I have watched Survivor from the beginning. In fact, Roger even filled out an application for the show, but never sent it in. Our life hasn't lended itself to him taking three months away from work/family.

In January 2007, we went to Jamaica on a trip with a bank that Roger works with. As we were swimming in the pool, one of the men also on the trip was standing by the edge of the pool with a Survivor hat on. I thought, "Cool! Another fan!" But when he turned around, it said "Crew" on the back.
I had to ask. How could you not?
---
Me: "So do you actually work for the Survivor Crew, or is that just something you can buy online?"
Man by the pool: "Actually my brother works for the show. He is the #2 man, just below Mark Burnett."
Me: Jaw dropped, speechless
Man by the pool: Proceeds to tell me that his brother was just getting back from filming in China.
Me: "Roger and I are huge fans, I can't believe it, oh my gosh, have you met Jeff Probst?, blah, blah, blah... (You get the picture)
---
So two weeks after we returned home from Jamaica, I get a phone call on a Saturday morning, from this man by the pool. They live just a few towns away from us, and were going to be in our town that afternoon. And by the way, he has something for us. I couldn't be there but Roger would be home, so he wanted to drop off this package.
I get home, and Roger had a grin from ear to ear. I look in the package, and what should my eyes be gazing upon? Check it out!

Apparently, man by the pool remembered crazy girl Survivor fan in the pool, and called his brother in L.A. and got Jeff Probst to autograph some Survivor Fiji buffs and hats for us!
That just doesn't happen!
.
And I never wear these buffs or hats either...

Just on date nights...

So cool! I remember you telling me the story, but I've never actually seen this precious cargo.
Precious it is...
awesome!!!
Yeah, I remember the story but also have never seen the stash! You probably keep it in your "lock box" at the bank right? You should at least insure it! Seriously, that is sooo cool ... and real neat post too Kim! When you are busy parents, you will take any "date" you can right?
What a really great story! Thanks for sharing!
That is so cool!!!
That is so cool Kim!!! WOW! What a treat. I don't think I've ever watched Survivor. Funny isn't it? We used to be like that with ER. :)
What a creative way to stay connected.
